Mapleton to be named Gig Town by Fidium Fiber at Snowflake Dazzle on Nov. 29
More than 900 homes and businesses can now access multi-gig fiber internet
Local officials, business leaders and community members will celebrate Mapleton’s new distinction as a Gig Town at a ribbon cutting on Nov. 29, following the completion of Consolidated’s new all-fiber network serving the community. Mapleton can now benefit from the myriad economic, educational, employment and entertainment benefits that accompany better internet access.
Gig Towns are communities with broad access to multi-gigabit fiber internet for residents and businesses and is awarded to towns by Consolidated Communications. Consolidated recently completed construction of an all-fiber network that brings Fidium Fiber service to more than 900 homes and businesses in Mapleton.
The ribbon cutting event will take place at the Corner of Main Street and 2nd Avenue NE in Mapleton (near Pioneer Bank) from 4 to 4:30 p.m.
The brief celebration will include remarks by Mayor Jeff Annis and James Gordon, Vice Chair of the Economic Development Authority and Market President at Pioneer Bank, alongside Consolidated representatives Jennifer Spaude, senior vice president of Communications and Mark Sharpless, senior manager of Network Engineering. The town will be presented with the Gig Town designation and certificate. Photo opportunities will be available throughout the event, with individual media interviews immediately following the event.
