Finding Work-Life Balance through Working from Home
Mauret's Story
Mauret, a Fidium customer in Durham, N.H., and her husband moved into a 55-plus community in preparation for retirement in the coming years. Mauret loves her fast-paced work with the ALS Association. In 2020, her work team went fully remote and her connection wasn’t the best causing Mauret to be frustrated by laggy internet. Finally, in 2021, fiber came to Durham and from that point, everything changed.
She spends a lot of time meeting with colleagues on video calls. Since switching to Fidium, Mauret can fully participate on those calls from her home office without missing a beat. With a full and busy workday, losing the commute and gaining the ability to be at home with her dogs has helped Mauret find more balance in her life, made possible by her reliable fiber connection.
“Working from home has changed things in so many different ways,” said Mauret. “I love to exercise, and I can throw on my sneakers in the mornings and go for a walk. When I was working in Concord, it was an hour commute and so I just didn’t get out.”
When Mauret’s long workday is over, she and her husband appreciate being able to stream a TV show or movie together. Since switching to Fidium from her cable connection, buffering is no longer a problem.
“We don’t see the pinwheel anymore,” she said. “At the end of the day, after dinner, after you clean up and you’re just ready to site down relax, you don’t want to deal with that hassle!”
