Hancock will celebrate the completion of Fidium Fiber’s network during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Hancock Farmers’ Market Thursday, Aug. 15, at 5:30 p.m.
The completion of the network means high-speed internet will be available to more than 900 homes and businesses in the community.
“Hancock has worked with Consolidated Communications for six years to bring fiber optic internet to our small rural town,” stated Mollie Miller, chair of the Hancock Telecommunications Committee. “Throughout, Consolidated has been a loyal and creative partner. Thanks to Consolidated, federal infrastructure money and a committed Telecommunications Committee, our small town is finally moving into the 21st century. For those of us who had previously been unserved, to have our internet speed jump overnight from nine Mbps to two gigs is nothing short of a miracle. We are grateful beyond words.”
Fidium representatives will be visiting Hancock to take part in in local events and share more information about service options and availability. For information or to sign up, visit fidiumfiber.com.
“We’re excited to celebrate the expansion of Fidium Fiber to Hancock’s residents and businesses,” said Jeff McIver, senior manager of government relations for Consolidated Communications. “Fiber brings tremendous benefits and transforms how we connect to one another, increasing access to educational, economic, health care and entertainment opportunities and options. We are excited to build the future together in Hancock, and to bring the benefits of Fidium Fiber to the community.”
