Fidium Fiber helping to bridge connectivity gap in New Hampshire
Fidium has expanded fiber access to more than 276,000 New Hampshire homes and businesses in just three years, with more than 60,000 additional locations to be added in 2025
MANCHESTER, N.H. — Nov. 14, 2024 — The state of New Hampshire has made significant progress in its broadband connectivity goals with Fidium Fiber helping lead the charge. In just three years, Fidium has expanded its all-fiber network to more than 276,000 New Hampshire homes and businesses, with even more planned for 2025.
Fidium’s investment in New Hampshire has brought symmetrical, multi-gig speed internet to some of the most remote regions of the state, affording residents access to the benefits of fiber connection, no matter their address. Partnerships with the state of New Hampshire have headlined Fidium’s expansion, including an Office of Broadband Initiatives grant to expand Fidium to more than 57,000 homes and businesses in 37 towns across Caroll, Cheshire, Coos, Grafton, Hillsborough and Sullivan counties.
“For rural communities, fiber transforms how we connect with one another, increasing access to educational, economic, healthcare and entertainment opportunities and options,” said Jeffrey McIver, senior government relations manager for Fidium. “We are proud to continue to help build the future in New Hampshire, lighting up communities across the state and connecting more residents to the benefits of Fidium.”
Recent studies confirm that fiber broadband drives economic growth, in particular for rural communities, increasing business growth by 213% and leading to 44% higher GDP. For individuals, fiber access resulted in self-employment growth of 10% and increased per capita income by 18%. Fiber also increases real estate values, as single-family homes with fiber access have a 4.9% higher value than those without. Fidium’s expansion of its all-fiber network brings these opportunities and all the benefits that come with access to a fiber broadband connection to New Hampshire communities.
Fidium has continued to expand fiber access throughout New Hampshire since it began fiber expansion in 2021, working over the past three years to bring connection to communities. Fidium will further expand access in 2025, bringing access to 60,000 additional New Hampshire homes and businesses. This expansion includes a partnership with the New Hampshire Broadband Matching Grants Initiative to connect more than 1,500 homes and businesses in Barnstead, Barrington, Belmont, Epsom, Farmington, Francestown, Gilmanton, Gilmanton Iron Works, Lancaster, Pittsfield and Strafford.
