Fidium Fiber expands to Fairfax and Fletcher
FAIRFAX — Fidium, a fiber internet service, is now available to residents in Fairfax and Fletcher.
More than 2,200 area homes and businesses can now access Fidium’s multi-gig speed fiber internet service and enjoy a high-speed broadband connection.
“Bringing fiber to Vermont communities like Fairfax and Fletcher is an investment in the future of the state, which will provide generations of connectivity,” said Jeffrey Austin, senior director of fiber build strategy at Consolidated Communications, Inc. “From Fairfax to Middlebury, and Essex Junction to Bennington, we have been excited to partner with local communities to bring the reliable, high-speed internet service that Vermonters need to live, work and play.”
Consolidated Communications funded a large majority of the $2.2 million build in Fairfax and Fletcher, with some additional support from the federal Rural Digital Opportunity Fund program. Federal support totals about $550,000 for this area over the next few years, said senior communications specialist Kyle Thweatt.
Fairfax and Fletcher are the newest communities in the state to be connected to Fidium. In the last year, Fidium has expanded to communities in Franklin and Chittenden counties, including Fairfax, Fletcher, St. Albans Town, St. Albans City, Swanton, Georgia, Fairfield, East Fairfield, Bakersfield, Essex Junction, Essex Town, Colchester and Williston. More than 110,000 Vermont homes and businesses now have access to Fidium Fiber.
Fidium Fiber delivers multi-gig-speed internet without contracts, installation fees or data caps. All Fidium plans offer reliable, symmetrical speeds from 100 Mbps to 2 Gigs (2000 Mbps).
Fidium Fiber also offers VoIP phone service plans, and features speeds that allow customers to seamlessly stream their preferred TV and entertainment.
