When you sign up for 2 Gig internet, the dedicated connection to your home can carry a bandwidth of 2 Gigabits per second.

That bandwidth is then shared with the devices connected to your home network. Unlike cable which shares your bandwidth with the neighborhood.

Bandwidth to devices

Because you have a dedicated connection, all your bandwidth is available for your devices.

That bandwidth is utilized based on the devices in use and activities those devices are performing at any given time. For example, on a 1-Gig plan, you will consistently get 1 Gig of bandwidth to your home, but the speed performance per device will depend on its capabilities. The same applies to the 2-Gig plan.

What is the max download and upload speed?

A 2 Gigabit (Gbps) fiber internet service typically offers a maximum download and upload speed of 2,000 Megabits per second (Mbps) for both downloading and uploading data. This speed is incredibly fast and allows for high-performance internet access, enabling quick downloads, seamless streaming, and efficient uploading of large files.

However, the actual speeds you experience can vary due to several factors such as hardware limitations, distance from the service provider's infrastructure, and the capability of the devices you're using to connect to the internet. It's also important to note that while the advertised speed is 2 Gbps, achieving those speeds consistently might not be possible in all situations.

Is the advertised speed guaranteed?

No. Residential broadband service speeds are not guaranteed and can be affected by a variety of factors (see above questions). Fidium Fiber works diligently to monitor our network and resolve issues to the network before customers are impacted. But, speeds can fluctuate until improvements or fixes are made.

What is the data cap and are there any throttling policies?

Fidium offers unlimited data usage without any data caps. Fidium does not throttle or restrict internet speeds, other than limiting customers to the speed they ordered.

What is the process for upgrading my plan if I need more bandwidth or faster speeds?

Fidium operates without contracts, allowing you to contact our customer service team and seamlessly upgrade your speed without any penalties. If you're transitioning from a lower non-gig speed to a gig speed, it may necessitate an equipment upgrade. In such cases, we'll schedule a technician to visit your home at a time that suits your convenience.
